Produced for a very short period of time (1953-57) in comparison to other Datejust references, the reference 6305 is in the spotlight of collectors for many reasons. First of all this Datejust is an example of a Rolex bubbleback watch, and therefore known by their Italian nickame ‘Ovettone’ (big egg) due to the exceptional depth of the caseback covering the calibre A296.
Principally the 6305 awas cased in yellow gold. Though there are fewer examples known which were produced in other materials and tend to be significantly rarer. The present watch is one of these outstandingly rare pink gold examples featuring the date disc in red. The combination of this unusual date display in a pink gold case is obviously leading this reference 6305 nickname to be ‘The Red 6305’. It also comes with a beautiful and well preserved red gold bracelet and ‘big logo’ clasp.The watch is enhanced by the gorgeous dial displaying a very subtle and consistent patina and radium lumes underlining the vintage style of the 50's and therefore making it a very desirable timepiece.
Additionally very exciting is the BREVET signature on the case and the crown ('+') indicating the swiss patent and origin of a few Rolex watches of that time.
