Jaeger-LeCoultre Grand Reveil Ref. 180.1.99 - "Very good" condition - Watch only

This is a Jaeger-LeCoultre Grand Réveil, reference 180.1.99, in 18K yellow gold. It is offered as watch only, without box or papers, in very good condition.

The Grand Réveil is one of the most ambitious JLC complications of its era. It combines a perpetual calendar with moon phase and a mechanical alarm, a very rare combination in a wristwatch then and now. The white dial stays balanced and legible despite the complexity. Day, date and month appear on three sub-dials, with the moon phase at 6 o'clock and luminous-tipped blued hands. The perpetual calendar accounts for the different month lengths and leap years automatically.

The roughly 41 mm yellow gold case, with its additional crowns for the alarm and calendar settings, was big and bold for its time. Collectors affectionately call it "The Warthog". Inside is a JLC in-house automatic movement.

A long-discontinued collector's classic that combines two great complications in one watch, from the house often called "the watchmaker's watchmaker".
