IWC Portuguese Ref. 5441 - "Very good" condition - Limited to 1000 pieces

This IWC Portuguese, reference 5441, is one of 1000 pieces and comes in steel with a silvered dial, rose-gold-coloured Arabic numerals and leaf hands, a small seconds at 6 o'clock and the script signature International Watch Co Schaffhausen. Its edition number is engraved on the case flank, it is worn on a brown leather strap, and it is offered in very good condition.

IWC made the 5441 in 1993 for its 125th anniversary, and with it brought back the Portuguese. The name goes back to the late 1930s, when two Portuguese importers asked IWC for a wristwatch as precise as a marine chronometer, and IWC answered by putting a pocket-watch movement into a large wristwatch case. The 5441 follows the same idea: a hand-wound movement derived from a pocket-watch calibre, behind a wide, clean dial with small seconds. The anniversary Portuguese in steel, limited to 1000 pieces, with which the modern Portuguese line began.
