Audemars Piguet Royal Oak ‘Time for the Trees’ Special Edition

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak ‘Time for the Trees’ Special Edition

Undeniably one of the most culturally significant models by Audemars Piguet, the Royal Oak is a cornerstone of the overall landscape of the luxury sports watch market. After Gerald Genta famously designed the watch within 24 hours in 1972, it was something totally new and avant garde. In the process it went on to shape the general idea of a luxury sports watch like no other watch.

In 1992, the Swiss watchmaker launched 'Audemars Piguet Fondation' with a singular principle to support the conservation of Earth's natural environment. The Foundation supports projects coordinated by not-or-profit associations and non-governmental organisations on a worldwide level, in order to help communities to protect a lifestyle and culture that respect the environment. This limited edition was launched in order to highlight the efforts of the foundation.

On the dial an outlined motif of an Oak tree can be found: This is not just a representation of Audemars Piguet's reforestation work but also a nod to the origin of the model's name, which comes from an ancient oak tree King Charles II of England used in 1651 to save his life. The dial has a different shade of blue unique for this limited edition. It is more light, bright and glossy than usual blue Royal Oak dial and has a highlighted date window. The ‘Time for the Trees’ Ref. 15100ST also is one of the few Royal Oak references from this era fitted with an sapphire caseback.
