Girard Perregaux Monterubello Ref. 38527-52-121-BBBA - "Very good" condition - Box
This is a Monterubello Chronograph in 18K rose gold, reference 38527-52-121-BBBA, made by Girard-Perregaux for Ermenegildo Zegna. It comes with its box and contains around 120 g of 18K gold.
The Monterubello collection launched in 2011. The name comes from the founder Ermenegildo Zegna, who was made Conte di Monterubello in 1939, and from the mountain of the same name in the Zegna Oasis. Gildo Zegna based the design on a 19th-century pocket watch that belonged to his great-great-grandfather Michelangelo Zegna, a watchmaker by trade.
The watch was made by Girard-Perregaux, which has a long relationship with the Zegna family. Inside is the Girard-Perregaux automatic calibre GP03300-0032, beating at 4 Hz. The collection was small, made up of a three-hand model in white or rose gold and this chronograph, offered only in rose gold. At launch it retailed for CHF 23,000.
Swiss haute horlogerie, Italian style and a substantial weight of solid gold: a rare and understated piece you seldom see on the market.
