Watch collectors usually strive to get their hands on vintage watches with a condition as pristine as it gets. However, this is hardly the case for collectors of military issued watches, where every scratch and dents showcases that the watch was properly used for its intended purpose and likely had an adventurous past.

The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms 3H Bund is an very interesting watch that was issued by Blancpain to the Frogmen of the German Bundeswehr and was never available for public sale.

While exact production numbers remain undisclosed, it is safe to say that there aren’t many and they very rarely surface.
It is estimated that a number of 250-500 have been produced of which barely a 100 survived until today.

This makes one of the 3H Bund watches a tremendously rare sight.
The watch is also pretty unique in its look as it is the only Fifty Fathoms to have a ‘sterile’ bakelite bezel with no minute tracks whatsoever, as the German divers used the watches for extensive dives and only hours needed to be tracked.
