It was the first wristwatch to show both the day of the week spelled out in full and the date on the dial, and it soon became known as the “President”. The reference 1803 was made from about 1959 into the late 1970s and is the classic vintage Day-Date. It has a 36 mm Oyster case, the signature fluted bezel and an acrylic crystal with the Cyclops lens over the date. The [dial colour] dial carries the day at 12 o’clock and the date at 3 o’clock.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eInside is Rolex’s automatic chronometer calibre [1555 or 1556], a robust in-house movement that has served for decades.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eThe 1803 was made mostly in yellow gold, so rose gold examples are rare.
