At the push of a slide it chimes the time on two hammers: the hours on a low tone, the quarters on both tones, and the minutes on a high tone. IWC brought the complication to the Portugieser in the mid-1990s with the reference 5240. Its repeater mechanism came from the legendary Il Destriero Scafusia of 1993, one of the most complicated wristwatches of its time. The IW524204 is the platinum limited edition of 100 pieces, made in the second half of the 2000s. The 42 mm platinum case keeps the classic Portugieser proportions, with the repeater slide on the left side of the case. The silver dial has applied Arabic numerals, a railway minute track and small seconds at 6 o’clock, the pure, timeless look of the Portugieser line.

Through the sapphire caseback you can watch the hand-wound IWC calibre 95290 at work. It is based on IWC’s historic pocket-watch calibre 95, and you can see the hammers strike the gongs.

Complete full set, perfect condition, and only 100 made: one of IWC’s great complications, in platinum.

https://lieblingskapital.de/products/iwc-portugieser-minute-repeater-ref-iw524204-very-good-condition-fullset
